About Essential Oils

THE NATURAL BEAUTY OF ESSENTIAL OILS

I just love working with essential oils.  I couldn’t think of a better way to spend my time working than creating beautiful products using these very special oils.   Every time I make up a small batch of, products the aromas work their special magic over me, and remind me of the reason why essential oils are so beneficial to our wellbeing.  They definitely keep us healthy and feeling positive about what we are doing at Saroma.  Below are some general facts about essential oils:

v     From a holistic view point, essential oils are the hormones or soul of  the plant and they work in harmony with the body and are non-addictive

v     The can be tailored to suit an individuals needs, through intuition or muscle   

       testing (kinesiology)

v     The complexity of essential oils work on many different levels affecting body chemistry nervous function and moods, digestive system, and are rejuvenating and stimulating to the immune system.

v     Unlike ‘conventional’ medicine, which tend to suppress conditions rather than addressing the cause, Essential oils will address the cause and work with the body rather than against it.

v     Can be used in any situation which is not life-threatening ie. car accidents, broken bones or congenital organ malfunction.

v     Such a compliment skin care preparations.

v     Essential oils should not be used undiluted over large areas of the skin

v     Avoid direct contact with the eyes, unless highly diluted in a suitable medium

v     If essential oils irritate the skin, they should be removed with vegetable or nut oils.  Using water will only increase the intensity of the oils

v     Pine and citrus oils will go rancid quicker than other oils. 

v     Pine, peppermint, juniper and citrus oils will irritate the skin in the bath

v     Peppermint is a wonderful breath freshener. 

v     On average, essential oils consist of over 100 different chemicals.

v     Essential oils work subtly on many different levels affecting body chemistry, nervous function, digestive system and moods.

v     Essential oils are rejuvenating and stimulate the immune system

 

CREATING MASSAGE OIL BLENDS

 

Always dilute your essential oils in a carrier or base oil. 

This provides a safe medium for the essential oil to enter the body.

 

DILUTIONS

 

2% to 2.5% dilution is suitable for a full body massage or facial.

 

5% dilution is considered when treating sore muscles, cramps, headaches and

 

10% dilution is used for localised pain such as stomach cramps, tight shoulders, colds & flu, varicose veins and arthritis.

 

          NOTE:  approx 32 drops of essential oil to 1ml of essential oil
